About Tradelane

Tradelane aims to make a sustainable impact on African economies by supporting the growth of small enterprises and promoting the development of exceptional leaders.

Thank you for visiting Tradelane. I’m Betsy Ings, founder of TRADELANE and an internationally accredited programme provider and facilitator to various United Nations organisations.

My passion for community progress began with the establishment of South Africa’s very first training academy for commercial fishers in 1999 Since then, Siyaloba Training Academy has empowered more than 25 000 fishers and I’ve been personally humbled and honoured with prestigious accolades, including the Business Women’s Association of South Africa (BWASA) National Business Achievers Award for Social Entrepreneurship, Royal Rotary Club (Port Elizabeth) Meritorious Service Award, and Business Partners Certificate of Recognition Honouring Exceptional Achievement.

But awards are not what this is all about… We’re all about ‘DELIVERING SOCIAL VALUE’.
Speaking up, when the vulnerable needed a voice; empowering especially young and female entrepreneurs to make informed decisions that enrich their business and their family’s future; making a positive contribution to the life of someone who doesn’t even know my name…  Now that is a legacy of which anyone can be proud.

Engaging with the International Labour Organisation highlighted a gap in the market to address the needs that I experienced while building Siyaloba and helping fishing communities. A passion for upliftment and advocacy is what excites me. Opportunities and networking and partnerships are what have informed and empowered me.

In 2013, Tradelane was strengthened with the addition of marketing and entrepreneurial skills development dynamo Lusanele Mahlutshana as Operations Director, whose commitment to the progress of youth and women further the company’s social value. In 2016, community development expert Jerome Samuels joined Tradelane, adding depth and value to the organisation’s leadership as Business Development Director.

It’s a killer combination that drives Tradelane as we coach and empower small businesses from all sectors.
